About Robin Cain

Get to know Robin Cain
Hello, My Name is Robin. I teach Piano, Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Ukulele,
Electric Bass, Upright Bass, Music Production, and Music Theory at the M&A
Burien location, with over 24 years of experience studying instruments and over 10
years of experience teaching. This includes receiving a BM in Jazz Studies from Capital
University, Masters level study at New England Conservatory in Boston, and continuing
to enjoy a 7 year bass performance career. This included 2 years of working as a bass
player on Norwegian and P&O Australia Cruise Ships, and playing every kind of music
you could imagine.
I also developed a never ending patience and passion for teaching while providing
lessons throughout my performance career and working for Apple Stores full time for
over 6 years, until 2018. Currently I am combining these passions with a renewed
focus on teaching and education.
I am excited to work with all ages and skill levels, especially beginners. I feel
accomplished providing a young person or adult with the building blocks to have fun
making music, and to see the look on that students face when the concepts start to
click! I am proud to aid in a child’s cognitive development, as well as provide musical
foundations that empower them to understand and play music on any instrument in the
future. If you're an adult and you have always wanted to play your favorite song or jam
with your friends, I’m your guy. As a teacher, I am dedicated to motivating and
inspiring my students, tracking progress, and excelling learning, whilst finding a way to
still have fun! I strive to get to know my students and work with them and/or parents to
make it engaging and fun, while still achieving goals.
When I’m not teaching, I’m practicing all of my instruments, and performing with local
cover Band The Nines, and local world music group Cordaviva. I also make creative
lo-fi beats and compose with Logic X music Software, compose and arrange my own
music for small groups, spend time with family and friends, and playing for kids at a
weekly Kaleidoscope Play and Learn group led by my wife Joy, hosted by Childhaven.
I live blocks away from Music & Arts in Burien, and you may also see me out in Seattle
playing bass at local jam sessions.
I look forward to sharing my passion and excitement for music with you! I teach at the Burien location on Mondays & Wednesdays!
