      Get to know Robin Cain

Hello, My Name is Robin. I teach Piano, Electric and Upright Bass, Music Production, and Music Theory at the M&A Burien location, and have been teaching at Music & Arts for 4 years. My expertise comes from over 29 years of experience studying instruments, and over 12 years of experience teaching music. I received a BM in Jazz Studies from Capital University, Masters level study at New England Conservatory in Boston. Additionally, I continue to enjoy a 9 year bass performance career. During my time performing, I spent 2 years of working as a bass player on Norwegian and P&O Australia Cruise Ships, and playing every kind of music you could imagine. Through my experiences, I have developed a never ending passion for teaching, as well as the patience needed to be affective. Besides teaching music and performing, I developed my teaching and communication skills working at Apple stores for 6 years. After leaving Apple, I spent time working in childcare as a Music Specialist at Bright Horizons Childcare in South Lake Union while growing my teaching studio and performing. Experiencing how kids learn at all age levels had a profound impact on how I teach. My time teaching and performing kids music also instilled a deeper understanding of the therapeutic power of music for all ages. Currently I am combining these passions with a renewed focus on teaching and education. I am excited to work with all ages and skill levels, especially beginners. I feel accomplished providing a young person or adult with the building blocks to have fun making music, and to see the look on that student’s face when the concepts start to click! I am proud to support a child’s cognitive development, as well as provide musical foundations that empower them to understand and play music on any instrument in the future. If you're an adult and you have always wanted to play your favorite song or jam with your friends, I’m your guy! As a teacher, I am dedicated to motivating and inspiring my students, tracking progress, developing a routine, and excelling learning, whilst finding a way to still have fun! I strive to get to know my students and work with them and/or parents to make it engaging and fun, while still achieving goals. When I’m not teaching, I’m practicing all of my instruments and performing with a local cover Band, The Nines, and other local musicians. I also compose and arrange my own music for small groups and enjoy creating music with GarageBand and Logic X music Software. I live blocks away from Music & Arts in Burien, and you may also see me out in Seattle playing bass at local jam sessions. I look forward to sharing my passion and excitement for music with you!

I teach at the Burien location on Mondays & Thursdays!
