Get to know Rosie Wright
Rosie Wright is currently a Senior vocal performance major at George Mason University. She is a mezzo-soprano from Harrisonburg, VA, and has had a sincere love and devotion to music of all kinds ever since she can remember. Rosie has performed in many different choirs and chamber groups including the University Singers and University Chorale at GMU, and enjoys performing with Mason Opera in their Fall and Spring productions. Some of her most notable roles have been Cherubino in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro, and the title role in Rossini's Cenerentola. In February 2021 Rosie won first in the Friday Morning Music Club’s Sue Goetz Ross competition for voice, and in the same year she made it to the semi-final round of NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) at the National level. Rosie was also a finalist performer in George Mason's concerto competition with the Mason Symphony Orchestra in Spring of 2022. Rosie’s instrumental knowledge has come from a combination of private lessons and self-interest, and she loves to write her own music in her spare time. She offers coachings and lessons in songwriting upon inquiry. In her future, Rosie hopes to get her master’s in vocal performance in order to pursue a performance career in opera.
Rosie is passionate about teaching all styles of singing ranging from classical to musical theater to pop, and she hopes to foster confidence and curiosity among all her students. She is very open to teaching voice in addition to another instrument(s) if the student is interested as well.
