Performance Experience: Played in the following bands: Derringer, Dixie, Black Water, Scott Taylor Band, Midnight Rodeo, Jay Tegler & Common Sense, Grand Mullet, Sheila Marshall, The Triumphs, Horizon; live performances all over the Midwestern US and as far as Canada and Mexico; from small town dance halls to the Astrodome in Houston.
Teaching Experience: Teacher at House of Guitars (2003 to 2007), Teacher at Music & Arts (2007 to 2020—only left due to Covid shut downs), Private Lessons (2020 to 2023)
Teaching Philosophy: If you're not having fun then what's the point? The music experience should feel joyful—yes, it should have the normal struggles that come with learning a new skill, but for the most part, it should be enjoyable for you.

Get to know Ryan Aguilar

As much as performing live with a band has meant to me, nothing will ever feel as special as seeing a students’ eyes light up when they finally perfect a piece they’ve been practicing. This is what music is all about for me.

I’ve been playing music for 44 years, teaching for 20. My wife says I have an ear for it, and she’s half right: I’ve also got the heart for it. Music has been the one constant in my life—something dependable and sentimental, with all the right notes of nostalgia and perseverance.

Music is multidimensional. It’s an expression of the soul. It’s an escape. It’s a craft. It’s the antidote for so many things. I believe that with the right teacher, someone can truly realize their musical potential. I’ve learned from a great many teachers and wish to give to my students the gifts I’ve received from them.

I look forward to teaching you and learning from you!
