Education: Ryan is in his third year of undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Arlington. Prior to coming to UTA, he graduated from James Bowie High School class of 2021.
Performance Experience: Ryan is currently principal trombone of both the UTA Wind Symphony and the UTA Symphony orchestra. He also sits third chair in the UTA Jazz Orchestra. In his time going through secondary school (7th grade up to 12th) he also played in the James Bowie High School marching band and wind symphony ensembles, putting his total experience performing at 8 years total.
Teaching Experience: Ryan has been teaching since his sophomore year of high school, putting his experience at 5 years.
Teaching Philosophy: A teacher’s role is to guide a student to success. What success may mean is between the student and teacher. Maybe it's to be able to operate the instrument and make music in a way that fulfills a student’s musical “itch” so to say, as a hobby. Others may desire to develop a career out of their abilities, in which the teacher will be ready to guide them. The teacher builds the road and puts down the signs for the student to follow. It is up to the student to drive down that road to the end.
Get to know Ryan Tran
Ryan is a current student at the University of Texas at Arlington, where he currently studies Trombone Music Performance with Jacob Muzquiz. Having grown up in the Arlington/Grand Prairie area, he graduated in 2021 from James Bowie High School in Arlington, Texas. Ryan has extensive teaching experience, having been at the helm in one way or another ever since his sophomore year in high school. His experience began with the occasional private lesson or teaching his section during sectionals and band camp progressing up until now, where he teaches both at Music and Arts as well as at James Bowie High School.
