Teaching Philosophy: My philosophy is to encourage and teach children and adults to love music and to appreciate how the arts contributes to our society. I teach music through an interdisciplinary approach and connect how music relates to other subject and skill areas. I teach growth mindset and always encourage students to be lifelong learners.

Ms. Kauffman has been a public school general music teacher and band director for 21 years. She has been teaching private piano lessons for 30 years and private flute and clarinet for 20 years. She teaches beginner to advanced private lessons to children and adults and has prepared them for solo festivals. Ms. Kauffman has accompained students on piano for state music festivals in New York for the past 30 years. She has played in the flute section of the Northport Community Band in Long Island for the past 10 years as well.
