Second Flute/Piccolo with Charlottesville Symphony.
Teaching Experience: 10+ years of private teaching experience, ranging from beginners to advanced high school students.
Courses on flute pedagogy from Lawrence Conservatory and the University of Oregon.
Teaching Philosophy: The most important job of a music teacher is to get their students to love their instrument. I play because I genuinely love the feeling of overcoming challenges and deepening my knowledge of the flute. I want my students to experience this for themselves as they develop what will hopefully become a life-long relationship with their instrument.
Get to know Sam Golter
Sam is a flutist with a master's degree from the University of Oregon and a bachelor's from Lawrence Conservatory. He has won awards as a soloist from the National Flute Association, the Mid-Atlantic Flute Society, the Flute Society of Kentucky, and was a 2-time winner of the Neale-Silva Young Artist Competition. He especially enjoys collaborating with composers for new compositions.
He is currently working on his PhD in musicology at the University of Virginia.
