Get to know Samantha Marshall
Samantha Marshall is thrilled to be joining the team of educators at Music and Arts, McClean. A native of Virginia, she is an active multi-instrumentalist of flute, clarinet, and saxophone, and educator in the Washington D.C. area.
Samantha was previously a performer in New York City, performing with the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, The Handel Society, as well as Broadway/off-Broadway productions throughout the area. Equally at home in commercial and chamber music settings, she has performed with choro guitarist Richard Boukas, and was a founding member of the accomplished woodwind quintet 13th Street Winds. With 13th Street Winds, the group worked primarily to spread diversity through music by performing outreach concerts in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. As a solo artist, Samantha has been a winner of the National Flute Association Masterclass Competition, the Flute Society of Washington’s Young Artist Competition, and was a finalist in the New York Flute Club Competition. She has performed as a solo artist throughout the U.S. and abroad, most recently for Historic Monticello’s winter festivities.
A tireless educator, Ms. Marshall maintains a private studio of woodwind students across the east coast, and has given masterclasses throughout the United States. She has previously been on faculty at the Blue Ridge Music Camp, and The Village School. Samantha received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of South Carolina, studying with Dr. Jennifer Parker-Harley, and her Masters Degree from the Mannes School of Music, studying with Keith Underwood
