Get to know Shannon Barton

Shannon Barton, Bass/Baritone, is excited to join the Music & Arts family as a vocal and piano instructor!

He is a graduate of Mississippi State University, where he studied Voice and Piano under Dr. Gary Packwood and Dr. Jackie Edwards-Henry. He has performed in a variety of operatic roles and was afforded the opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall in 2012. He has won numerous vocal competitions including the NATS Regional Vocal Competition in 2011 and the SICC Vocal Competition in 2008.

Shannon has taught private voice and piano for over ten years and has taught in Prince George’s Public Schools since 2012, serving as a choral director, piano, and guitar teacher.  He strongly believes that music is a connector with the unique ability to bridge cultures and break barriers and looks forward to sharing his passion for music and learning with the Music & Arts community.
