About Shannon Flynn

I grew up in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and began piano lessons after my dad bought me an old piano at an estate auction on my 8th birthday.  I loved piano lessons and soon began learning to play all types of music, from classical to boogie woogie and everything in between!  I had my first church job at age 14, and spent many hours during high school playing piano to accompany my high school’s drama department musicals as well as the local community theatre group.  I also played clarinet in band and sang in the choir.  I attended college at Shenandoah Conservatory of Music in Winchester, VA as a piano major and voice minor, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Music Education. I later earned a MEd in Curriculum and Instruction.  I have taught private piano and voice lessons since those early days in college, and also spent years working as a Middle/High school choral director..  I love working with students of all ages and ability levels and promise to do my best to help each of you achieve your musical goals.
