About Sonia Feldstein

Under a grant from the Brazilian government awarded in 1995, she spent several years in the US and earned her second Master’s degree at the University of Pittsburgh in 2000. She then returned to Brazil in 2000, and during her final seven years with the National Symphony Orchestra, she served as assistant concertmaster. In February of 2008, she transferred to the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, and from March 2008 until December 2010, she served as substitute professor of violin. Also in February 2008, she returned to the violin section of the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra.

Sônia has participated as a soloist or member with a myriad of other orchestras and chamber groups over the years, and played for opening ceremonies of the 2007 Pan American Games and the 2016 Olympic Games, both held in Rio de Janeiro.

Sonia has been certified to teach music in any school in Brazil. She has also participated in several intensive workshops specializing in group violin instruction at the world renowned Instituto Baccarelli under the direction of Professor José Marcio Galvão in São Paulo, Brazil.

Sonia moved to Lake Worth, FL in September of 2019, and since then has served as violin teacher with several music schools in the area, and also teaches privately primarily using the Suzuki Method and traditional methodology, which she is certified to administer.
