About Stephanie Lawless

Stephanie comes to Music & Arts from Georgia, where she worked as a school band director for 28 years. She taught band at the middle and high school level, including wind ensemble, marching band, jazz band, and music theory. She has proficient competency in every wind instrument in the ensemble.

She has degrees in music education from East Texas State (Bachelors), and the University of Arkansas - Fayetteville (Masters). She has an extensive performance resume, including jazz, blues, rock, and rhythm bands across four states. Her teaching philosophy centers around teaching the whole student. Teaching fundamentals includes, not only the instrument, but the whole musician. The basics of rhythm competency, note reading, and other fundamentals are just as important as technical proficiency on the instrument. Stephanie prides herself in working with each student to establish individual goals, while also letting the student pursue their instrument as they wish.
