Get to know Steven Caballero
Steven Caballero has been playing the guitar for over 20 years and teaching for 10. He cites Jimi Hendrix and Eddie Van Halen as the two major influences that sparked his interest in playing the guitar. Steven Caballero has played in a variety of bands spanning several genres of contemporary music such as Heavy Metal, Neo-Soul, Pop, Punk, Funk, Christian Worship, Math Rock, Fusion, Alternative and more.
Over the last decade, Steven Caballero has become a fervent student of Jazz. Steven Caballero studied under Baltimore Jazz guitar legend Michael Raitzyk while obtaining his Associates in Music at Howard Community College. During this time, Steven Caballero immersed himself head first into the vibrant Baltimore City Jazz scene, performing with such notable players as Jeff Reed, Michael Raitzyk, Chuck Karner, Ben Grant, Dave Rybczynski, Todd Marcus, Jesse Moody, Kyle Coughlin and Alex Norris to name a few.
After graduating HCC with high honors, Steven Caballero transferred to the University of North Florida in Jacksonville to finish his Bachelor of Music under the supervision of Jazz guitar virtuoso Barry Greene. During his time at UNF, Steven Caballero was fortunate to perform with several esteemed figures in today’s Jazz scene - such as: Scott Giddens, Lynne Arriale, Dennis Marks, Todd DelGiudice, Barry Greene, Pasquale Grasso, James Hogan, Jack Petersen and Danny Gottlieb.
Steven Caballero currently lives in the greater Baltimore area where he teaches and performs in various musical settings. Most recently, Caballero has become very interested in composition, arranging and recording.
