Get to know Terry Minor
I am a music education professional that has learned over the past forty years that great music teachers: connect to their students, love fundamentals, and know how to “sell” them to their students. During my senior year of high school I studied privately at East Carolina University with James Houlik, a leading pioneer and performer of classical music throughout the world. I continued my music studies at Fayetteville State University with James Evans (saxophone instructor and advisor) from 1975 to 1979. After receiving my Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education, I studied at Berklee School of Music in Boston Massachusetts with professor William Perish (a saxophone and jazz instructor). I was also blessed enough to have had many private tutorials with Branford Marsalis, an American saxophonist, composer, and bandleader. I’ve taught music education in the North Carolina Public School system for twenty-one years at all levels. Lastly, I’ve been a private lesson master instructor in the area of woodwind instruments at Music & Arts for four years.
