About Thomas Ford

Thomas Ford graduated from Onondaga Community College in 1992 with an A.A.S. degree in music and attended Syracuse University with a focus on piano and guitar at both institutions.

He has played and accompanied numerous groups and ensembles since the mid 70s as a professional pianist and guitarist.

Since teaching both instruments since 1979, Mr. Ford has developed a comprehensive knowledge of their respective repertoires, with particular familiarity with Classical and popular styles ranging from Rock, Blues, and Jazz. Particular emphasis is placed on encouraging learning to play at the instrument first rather than learning how to read music exclusively, along with developing an awareness of musical sound.

Teaching according to student's preferences and flexibility is an additional priority within a relaxed and unpressured learning environment.
