Get to know Timothy Hamilton
After the military, Tim attended Morehead State University receiving his Bachelor of Music Education, studying trumpet with Greg Wing. Continuing his studies of the instrument, Tim earned a Masters in Trumpet Performance from Appalachian State University with Dr. Jim Stokes. He also served a research assistant for the publication of three major text in music theory with Dr. Jennifer Snodgrass.
Tim has performed with The Symphony of the Mountains, Cave Run Symphony Orchestra, Louisville Civic Orchestra, Kentucky Chamber Orchestra, Derby City Brass Band, and The Brass Band of Appalachia. He has performed with several professional musical theaters including Jenny Wiley Theater’s production of “Shrek, The Musical,” Shawnee State University’s production of “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum,” Appalachian State University’s production of “Sweeny Todd,” and with Lees-McRae Summer Theater for “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat!”
Tim currently serves as Principal Solo Cornet with the Brass Band of Louisville, Chamber Winds Louisville Concert Band, and most recently joined the horn line for the reginal corporate/wedding band “The Usual Suspects Band.” Tim is a member of the Louisville Federation of Musicians, Local 11-637. He is the trumpet instructor at Music & Arts - Louisville.
Including Tim’s performing, he is an Academic Advisor and Admissions Counselor for the School of Music at the University of Louisville where he works with incoming freshmen and sophomore music students on academic career planning. Tim also serves on the Music Education faculty at UofL as the instructor of Introduction to Music Study.
