Get to know Tristan Frank
Tristan Frank is a highly sought-after trumpet performer and teacher who currently resides in Houston, Texas. Most recently, he completed an Artist Diploma in Orchestral Performance from the University of Colorado Boulder, where he also performed as a substitute member of the Colorado Symphony and other regional orchestras in the Denver area, and held the position of 3rd Trumpet with the Longmont Symphony.
Tristan has also been fortunate enough to receive trumpet fellowships with the Aspen Music Festival and School, the International Chamber Orchestra of Puerto Rico, and the Pierre Monteux School. As a member of various ensembles, Tristan has performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City and the Musikverein in Vienna, Austria, and has appeared in performances in nine different countries across North America, South America, and Europe. While he is comfortable in a multitude of musical styles, Tristan is most passionate about the orchestra and military band formats. He has been a finalist or semifinalist in recent auditions for The United States Air Force Band, Arkansas Symphony, The United States Air Force Academy Band, Cheyenne Symphony, and The United States Army Old Guard Fife & Drum Corps.
A strong advocate for music education, Tristan has helped guide all levels of students, from beginner to undergraduate trumpet majors. He is currently a trumpet instructor and clinician for Klein Independent School District in Houston. Tristan has previously taught lessons and coached sectionals at the University of New Mexico and St. Olaf College, as well as in various high schools across Puerto Rico.
Tristan has appeared in concert alongside members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Metropolitan Opera, Atlanta Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony, and American Brass Quintet. His primary teachers include Ryan Gardner, Justin Bartels, John Marchiando, and Martin Hodel.
