Get to know Vic

Hi, I’m Vic Wheeler. I started learning guitar at age 13 and began playing in local bands at 16. As time went on, I took a year of theory at a local college, went through all the Berkley books and wanted a more formal music education. I enrolled in G.I.T. (Guitar Institute of Technology) in Los Angeles. From there, I played professionally on the West Coast, Canada, Nevada, Colorado…too many to name. Upon returning to the East Coast, I started a band with my wife Kathy and worked with T. Skorman Productions out of Orlando, Florida touring the Southeastern U.S. for almost a decade.

Eventually we returned to the Carolinas to start a family and I began focusing on teaching. I developed my own curriculum and became the go-to guitar instructor teaching 75-85 private lessons per week. I teach beginners to professionals, all age groups, and backgrounds. I enjoy helping people improve and grow, and try to be sensitive to what students are feeling, how they learn, and what they are interested in.

My personal music career has continued. I’ve performed with many Carolina groups including The Entertainers, The Embers, Breeze Band, Hip Pocket, Holiday Band, and several church praise bands, both playing guitar and singing. I have written and recorded a Contemporary Christian album, and other original music as an Indie Artist. As you can see, music is my life. I enjoy a mix of Soul, Rock, Funk, Blues, Jazz Fusion, and Urban Gospel.
