Get to know Victor
I began to take guitar lessons at the age of seven at Beechler’s music store in Encino , CA. My teacher there was Bill Wyckoff , a well-accomplished guitarist and arranger. He started with teaching me how to read music from Mel Bay beginner books. Also , I was first taught classical and flamenco styles of playing. Within a few years I was also taught the blues , rock and pop styles as well.
When I was nineteen years old , I attended the Dick Grove Music School in Studio City , CA for a one year- long guitar program. These courses helped to reinforce previous guitar studies such as group playing and assorted aspects of being a well-rounded professional musician. At this time , I was fortunate enough to have private instruction with the great jazz guitar virtuoso Joe Pass.
While attending the Dick Grove Music School , I worked at Instrumental Music in Granada Hills , CA as a guitar instructor.
I had a roster of approximately twenty students whom I taught on a weekly basis. Given my extensive musical background , I was able to offer and teach a variety of styles to my students. Simultaneously , I was doing a number of studio guitar sessions and live shows. By this time I was playing gigs and teaching on a consistent basis.
