About Bill Buck

Get to know Bill Buck
I sang in school choruses and choirs from 5th to 8th grade and took up guitar in 9th grade studying jazz. After school I joined the army serving as a section leader at an Intelligence site in occupied Berlin. While in Berlin I continued my studies of jazz guitar and saw performances of the greats as they passed through the city. I moved to Charlotte in 1986, studied jazz guitar and picked up bass in 1991. It was at this time I started a steady gig schedule, performing festivals, clubs, upscale restaurants and theaters.
Styles performed on bass are jazz, rock, country, bluegrass, blues, show tunes, R&B, hard rock New Orleans funk, and top 40. Guitar performances have primarily been jazz and show tunes.
I feel it is important for the student to have a solid background in basic theory and technique so they may continue their path for a lifetime of music making. I teach most ages and styles on bass, fretless bass and guitar. I also offer lessons as occupational therapy.
