Get to know Will Franz
Will is a guitarist and singer/songwriter originally from Mukilteo, Washington. He has earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music, graduating Cum Laude, from Western Washington University, where he studied classical guitar. In 2016, Will moved to Texas to study jazz guitar at the University of Texas at Arlington, where he received a Master of Music degree in Jazz Performance. While in the Jazz Orchestra at UTA, Will got to perform with Jazz Legends such as Jimmy Cobb, Eddie Gomez, and Bobby Shew. He also had the opportunity to study jazz improvisation with Stefan Karlsson at UTA.
Will is also an accomplished singer/songwriter, having performed over the years at numerous venues across Washington State. In 2011, he was awarded the Education Association Scholarship to Save Lives for his original song, Send a Friend. He released an EP entitled Sweet Aubade, in 2012, which was produced in Nashville by Multitone Musik. Growing up, Will started out as a percussionist performing in his school’s band. He then advanced to snare drum for marching band while also becoming the drummer for his church’s worship band. Will has been teaching private music lessons since 2008 to students of all ages. Formerly, he was an Adjunct Music Instructor at Big Bend Community College where he taught Music Appreciation, History of Jazz, History of Rock and Roll, and Class Piano courses. Will aspires to be an inspiration to learning musicians and pass on his knowledge and love for music..
