Education: Understudied with Dr. Cohen- Principal Clarinetist Chicago Civic and New Orleans Symphony, Professor of Music Northwestern University and sponsor for Bill Haraden at Northwestern for his composition Doctoral Degree. Understudied with Jimmie McFarland Dixieland Jazz with ongoing performances in New Orleans. Understudied Clarinet Mouthpiece construction with Frank Kasper an d Frank Wells. Get to know William Haraden

Bill has co-founded and directed three musical groups in the Lake Norman area, the Lake Norman Orchestra, The Lake Norman Big Band, and the Cornelius Youth Orchestras. Bill began learning to play clarinet when he was only 8. In high school he added alto saxophone and soprano saxophone. By the age of 14 he was one of the youngest recipients of the Arian Award for Musicianship. In addition to CYO, Bill performed for many years with The Lake Norman Big Band, and is an instructor with Music & Arts in Muskego, WI. Bill has done performances with the Dallas Brass, Steely Dan’s Jim Pugh, and Al Vazetti. Bill was the 1st Clarinetist for the Lake Forest Symphony, played with the Chicago Civic Orchestra, the Milwaukee Civic Orchestra, the North Shore band at Northwestern University, and was squad leader for the University of Illinois Marching band. He has student-conducted at the College of Lake County and the University of Illinois. Bill loves working with youth musicians and helping them grow and develop their musical talents. Many of Bill’s students have gone onto College as music majors and minors, many with music scholarships.
