Get to know Zachary Ashland
Zachary Ashland, an accomplished oboist, is currently pursuing his Masters
degree at Stony Brook University under the guidance of the esteemed James Austin
Smith. Hailing from the Southwest, Zach earned his Bachelor of Music from the University
of Arizona. There he gained valuable experience teaching a multitude of woodwinds with
students of all ages and skill levels.
As a first-generation musician, Zach deeply values the transformative power of
music and its ability to bring purpose and reflection to one's life. In his free time, he
enjoys listening to podcasts, crafting oboe reeds, and exploring new places.
