Welcome Aboard, Greg Oliver!

by Oriana

Welcome to the Lawrenceville Team, Greg Oliver!

Greg Oliver has been teaching private piano and voice since 1998. Prior to that, he served on church staffs in various capacities in several states. Greg earned a Bachelor of Music from East Texas Baptist University and a Master of Arts in Christian Education from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He studied piano with Nellie Belle Nix, Dr. Patrick Whaley, and Eliza Holmes Feldmann, and voice with David L. Johnson and Dr. Charles Fuller. Greg has performed as a soloist with various church and community choirs, and in musical theatre productions with school, church, and community theatre groups. He is a member of the National Federation of Music Clubs, where his students have consistently scored Superior ratings in Festival, including 41 winners or runners-up in the High School Piano, Vocal Musical Theater and Vocal Art Song, and Music Theory Scholarship competitions.

Greg teaches students of all ages, from preschool to adults, and in all skill levels.  Among his alumni are students studying at Berklee College of Music in Boston, the American Music and Drama Academy in New York, Furman University, the University of Alabama, Samford University, Ithaca College, Brenau University, and Georgia College and State University, while other alumni are pursuing careers in a variety of fields. Greg lives in Lawrenceville with his wife Pam and daughter Hayley.

Students studying voice or piano would learn techniques (music reading, fingering, breath control, posture, etc.) to provide them with the ability to sing or play at their best, and these techniques would be applied to a variety of musical genres.  Lessons can also help prepare students for competitions and auditions.

Music theory would include a study of music notation and terminology, applying this knowledge to practical examples.

Greg will be beginning lessons here at the Lawrenceville store in September. He is available on Wednesdays. If you have any questions or wish to set up an appointment with him, feel free to call us at 770-277-7300.
