LDW, IMA & Sound Care

by Nicole

What are they and why do we need it?

When you choose to rent or buy from Music & Arts we want to make sure you get the best of the best for you and your instrument. Instruments need just as much love and care as our pets. Many of us take pride in keeping our instruments in the best shape possible.

When you rent with us we always offer our special renters coverage: Liability for Loss or Damage. What does it cover? LDW covers basic repairs due to normal wear and tear on the instrument. It allows the renter to send out the instrument to be serviced as needed. All repairs must be completed by Music & Arts approved technician.  LDW also covers theft or fire with proof of police report within 72 hours of the incident.

What does LDW not cover? LDW does not cover mysterious disappearances. It does not cover any damages to instrument finishes, cosmetic damage, string breakage, speakers, reeds, drum sticks and mallets, bow hair, rosin, brass and woodwinds mouthpieces loss, neck straps, ligature loss and mouthpiece caps. Mouthpiece and ligature, included with the instrument at the time of rental, is covered upon presentation of the broken part.

If you choose not to purchase the LDW option, renters are responsible for maintaining the instrument in working condition throughout the agreement.

LDW rates are based off instrument groups, to find out rentals and LDW rates call your neighborhood Music & Arts or visit us online at www.musicarts.com

IMA (Instrument Maintenance Agreement) is offered to any customer of Music & Arts that purchases a Band or Orchestral instrument. I.E: Flute, Clarinet, Sax, Trumpet, Trombone, Violin, Viola, etc.…. With IMA you have options to purchase a 1 or 2 year maintenance plan; prices vary based on instrument category.

Upon signing the agreement Music & Arts will maintain the instrument in good playing condition and provides the following services:

  • General checkups as necessary and as requested
  • Adjustment and proper regulation of keys, valves, and slides
  • Replacement of necessary pads, springs, felts and corks
  • Removal of dents that affect the instruments playability
  • Pulling of stuck slides, valves or mouthpieces
  • Cleaning and lubrication as necessary to improve playability
  • Cracked wood on woodwind instruments will be pinned, if possible
  • Cases will be repairs or replaces at a price determined by M&A, not to exceed 50% of our retail price

Repairs must be completed by a Music & Arts technician. Cracked plastic-bodied instruments may be repaired or replaces at Music & Arts discretion. We will also provide a loaner if necessary.

IMA does not cover any intentional damage, negligent handling or abuse to the instrument, cosmetic damage such as: lacquered finishes, or silver-plated surfaces or ornamental finishes such as key pearls, replacement of lost parts.

While IMA is primarily sold to those who purchase instruments through Music & Arts, we do offer it to anyone who has an instrument already upon inspection and approval from our company technicians.

So far we have only discussed how to protect our band and orchestral instruments, but what about our combo products such as guitars, amps, drums and more?
