Daniel Marquez is a very experienced violinist and violin teacher.
Experience: He has taught in multiple programs designed for low income families. Students are anywhere from 7-10 years of age. He has taught with the String Project and Harmony Program in the New York City area. He provides a very personalized approach to music lessons, and combines different teaching styles to provide an individual lesson plan to each student.
Background: Daniel relocated from Brooklyn, NY earlier this year and is currently with the Washington Philharmonic Orchestra and the symphony orchestra of Northern Virginia. He is an enthusiastic chamber musician, performing in many ensembles.
Originally from Missouri, Daniel began studying violin at the age of 10 in his elementary school music program. Although he was first interested in the program to avoid reading class, his passion for music began to grow. At the age of 16 he began studying privately with violinist Dr. Heidi Bergman. He he completed his Bachelor’s degree, studying under Dr. David Hays in Springfield, Missouri. Daniel moved to Brooklyn to begin his Master’s degree at the Brooklyn Conservatory, with Masao Kawasaki. After a year of study, he became the Orchestra Manager for the Riverside Symphony, and in 2013 he decided to return to Brooklyn College to complete his degree with renowned violinist Igor Pikayzen. In 2014 he received his Master’s Degree.
Daniel has performed with many orchestras, chamber ensembles, and artistic projects in NYC. He has been Principal Second violinist of the Missouri State Orchestra, Brooklyn College Conservatory Orchestra, and the Queer Urban Orchestra. He also served as Concertmaster in the Brooklyn College Conservatory.
