Did you find your old guitar from ages back in the attic, or you were given a keyboard for the holidays? Now what? It's lesson time! What I hear most often is that the new musician is going to watch a few YouTube videos and if that doesn't work then maybe they'll enroll in lessons. I like to compare music lessons to drivers ed classses. Would you let your child drive your car with them only watching a few videos about it? I don't know many parents that would say yes. Private music lessons are along the same lines. Yes, watching a few videos online will give you the gist of playing your instrument, but there is high value in that in-person learning you get from private lessons. Plus, YouTube can't watch you and see if your hand position is correct or give you feedback on your progress like your private lesson teacher can.
If you are timid about committing to lessons, we have an amazing event coming up on January 10th called Pointers 4 Players! It's a chance to meet our lesson teachers and have your first lesson! The classes are going to be held at the store and everyone is welcome! There are 4 clinics each featuring a different instrument.
