Education: Master's degree in guitar and composition.

Performance Experience: Josh has performed in a wide variety of contexts as a guitarist and occasionally as a pianist. As a classical guitarist he won several classical guitar competitions and performed with the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra as a soloist. As an electric guitarist he has performed all over the nation in a variety of commercial music ensembles, performing rock, metal, blues, and even occasionally country, jazz, and fusion styles.

Teaching Experience: Josh has been teaching for over 25 years as a private instructor, and taught in the university setting in classrooms for nearly a decade. In addition he tutored fellow college students for extra income during college, and has coached ensembles.

Teaching Philosophy: I believe in a fluid, flexible teaching style tailored to each individual student in accordance with their particular needs and goals. In my experience, a one-size-fits-all approach rarely works well, and doesn't serve the student. Every musician, regardless of age or experience, has different needs and learns and processes information differently.

Josh Tannehill is a native of Jackson Mississippi, and began playing guitar at age 12. Initially highly influenced by classic rock and metal, he later became more

interested in a variety of musical styles and began studying music seriously in college, earning an Associate's degree in classical guitar performance from Hinds

Community College, a Bachelor's degree in classical guitar performance from William Carey University, and eventually a Master's degree in both classical guitar

performance and music composition from Middle-Tennessee State University. Also during this time Josh played and toured with a number of commercial

music acts playing a wide variety of musical styles. He has been teaching private lessons and tutoring/coaching for over 25 years.
