      Get to know Klay Wolfs

I’m a self-taught musician who wishes he did more lessons. Guitar was my first instrument. I began in 8th grade when my sister got an acoustic guitar that she never played. I picked it up and started learning via guitar tabs. I eventually transitioned to an electric guitar. I didn’t know much about music but I really wanted to know how to play some of my favorite songs.

Guitar Hero/Rock Band was my biggest inspiration. I was so into playing those games that I began picking up how to play drums simply just from the many hours of playing drums on Rock Band. Soon after, I learned that the drum mapping in Rock Band compares almost 1:1 with drumming on a real drumset. My uncle recognized how good I was getting at Rock Band and decided to gift me his drumset! From then on, drumming took over my guitar playing.

I wanted to take music more seriously (specifically on drums) so I took drumline my Junior year of High School. That’s where I learned how to read sheet music for drums. After high school I continued playing both guitar and drums (and lots of Rock Band) all the way to now! And I’ll probably play forever.

Overall, I really believe music provides purpose. It’s a great hobby for anyone and I’m happy to be working with music. It’s easily the most fulfilling retail job I’ve ever experienced.
