About Matt Hickox

Matthew (Matt) Hickox is a multi-instrumentalist from Jacksonville, Florida with nearly a decade of performance experience. Specializing in percussion and bass, Matt is a mallet percussion specialist with comprehensive proficiency across the full range of percussion instruments. His diverse skill set and strong musical foundation have made him a versatile performer in both orchestral and musical theater settings.

Matt has studied bass under Ernie Ealum and percussion under Kevin Gary and Mike Taylor, refining his technical precision and musical artistry. He is currently a member of the First Coast Wind Symphony, an ensemble recognized with the Sudler Silver Scroll Award from the John Philip Sousa Foundation. He also performs with the Joe Kreines Tribute Wind Ensemble in Titusville, Florida.

In addition to his wind ensemble and orchestral work, Matt has performed in the pit orchestra for more than 30 musical productions throughout the greater Jacksonville area. As he continues to expand his professional career, Matt’s goal is to establish himself as a freelance musician, performing with distinguished ensembles and contributing to high-level artistic collaborations.
