About Remy De Leon
Get to know Remy De Leon
Working at Music and Arts was a dream of Remy’s ever since she rented her first clarinet at Music and Arts in 2016. It’s easy for Remy to discuss music for hours, and this fuels her happiness. Presenting instrument rentals to musicians is exciting to her.
As
an avid learner, Remy played clarinet for nine years; intensely for five years,
and then she began to explore the interdisciplinary curiosity between music and
medicine for four more years. During this time, she continued to perform. She
further educated herself on auditory neuroscience, neurodivergence, and even
the positive neurological processes in the brain that result from habitual
practice.
Remy then attended Furman University in South Carolina, where she studied clarinet performance under Dr. Anastasia Christofakis. Additionally, she dabbled in neuroscience with Dr. Linnea Freeman, where Remy wrote a research paper on music and the brain, influenced by her 2022 “music therapy” work in a memory care haven. Remy’s core memories include All-State Bands, the latest being Florida Symphonic 2021, as well as premiering Undertow by John Mackey with the band in 2019. Remy was the chamber principal of the Philharmonic Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra in 2020.
As
an empath, her goal is to support individuality of musicians and maintain a
space that is welcoming.
Remy
strongly supports the importance of diverse brains among all musicians, as
music serves as a universal language that is a conduit for inclusion. Remy has
found that cultivating others’ love for music is her true passion and is
ecstatic to help new, current, and returning musicians at Music and Arts.
