About the Workshop

Motivating students to practice can be exhausting. The solution is easy: give them exciting, inspiring pieces! Students will come into every lesson with more enthusiasm than ever. Join Glenda Austin for an entertaining session packed with captivating music and valuable teaching tips.

About the Clinician

Glenda Austin holds degrees in the areas of vocal and instrumental music education, including a MM in piano performance from the University of Missouri.  For nearly 30 years she has taught piano, elementary, middle school and secondary music in Missouri. 

 

In addition to teaching, Ms. Austin enjoys being pianist for FirstUnitedMethodistChurch in Joplin.  She is an adjunct faculty member of Missouri Southern State University where she accompanies the Concert Chorale and Chamber Choir.  Her memberships include Joplin Piano Teachers Association, American Choral Directors Association, Missouri Choral Directors Association, Music Teachers National Association, Missouri Music Teachers Association, and National Association for Music Educators, Missouri Music Educators Association and Pi Beta Phi Sorority. 

 

Ms. Austin is a composer for The Willis Music Company.  Her music ranges in difficulty and many titles have been placed on the National Federation of Music Clubs as well as state repertoire lists.  Several of her pieces have been commissioned by teacher’s organizations.  Ms. Austin has presented piano workshops on local, state and national levels.  She has also traveled to Japan to present her music where her music has been published and recorded by Zen-On Music Company. 

 

Ms. Austin currently resides in Joplin, Missouri with her husband, David, and their two children, Susan and Scott.
