Get to know Alissa Castro Lawicki
Mrs. Castro-Evans is a freelance musician and educator located in Columbia,SC. She comes from a musical family and has been teaching for over 13 years. Alissa has served in many schools in the Southeast as a percussion instructor and percussion specialist. Alissa is a section member of the Augusta Symphony and also teaches percussion, drumset, voice, and piano privately. Many of her students have placed in Region Band, All-State, and have even gone in to college to receive scholarships for their music skills. Alissa was a finalist in the prinicpal timpani audition for Augusta Symphony and was featured in the May 2018 publication of Sound Teaching from Music & Arts.

Alissa is a graduate of The University of South Carolina (MM ‘17) and holds a Bachelor or Music Education from The Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University in Columbus, GA. She has experience teaching general music, African Drum ensembles, steel pans, middle school, and high school band/percussion. Alissa was a charter member of the indoor drumline Infinity Percussion (‘07) in Orlando, FL and has competed at PASIC in the marching keyboard category 3 times placing 5th in the Collegiate category (‘07). Mrs. Castro-Evans was recently appointed Adjunct Professor of Percussion at Benedict College and is a member of the Percussive Arts Society (PAS) Health & Wellness Committee.
