About Aiden Woods

Born and raised in Warwick, New York, Aiden Woods is an experienced saxophonist, composer, woodwind doubler, and educator. He began playing the alto saxophone at age 9. At age 15, his love for music deepened through membership in the Hudson Valley Youth Jazz Orchestra and experiences with programs at William Paterson University and Jazz House Kids.

A recent graduate of William Paterson University's esteemed jazz studies program, Aiden has blossomed into a profound young saxophonist and composer. Pianist Bill Charlap has described Aiden as “a thinking man’s musician.” Aiden has been honored to study and work with a myriad of jazz masters, including Steve Nelson, Bruce Williams, Vincent Herring, Jeremy Pelt, and Johnathan Blake. He has performed extensively across the New York metropolitan area at venues including Dizzy’s Club, Nublu, Mercury Lounge, and Fiction.

Aiden is also an accomplished educator, offering private lessons in saxophone, composition, music theory, and beginning flute, clarinet and piano. From 2023-2025, he worked as a teaching assistant at the renowned Jazz House Kids Summer Workshop.

Aiden was recently given the Dean's Award for Creative Excellence in William Paterson University's College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. In 2025, he was selected as the second-place winner of the New Jersey Jazz Society Juried Scholarship Competition in the composition category. He can be found leading his own group and working as a sideman throughout the New York area.
