About Alice
Get to know Alice
Alice has 34 years of experience teaching instrumental music in public and private K-12 schools. As a high school band director she conducted concert bands as well as jazz ensembles and chamber music groups. She also has an extensive background working with beginning instrumentalists as well as intermediate level students. In addition, Alice has taught general and choral music at the elementary level as well as music theory and history courses at the high school level.
She completed her master's degree at Shenandoah Conservatory in Virginia and her bachelor's in music education at the University of Maine Orono. She also holds an associate's degree in jazz and contemporary music from the University of Maine Augusta. While at UMaine she studied classical and jazz saxophone with David Demsey.
Alice has performed with the University of Maine wind ensemble, the Don Stratton big band as well as the University of Maine Machias community band. She was a member of the Maine Summer Youth Music faculty for 12 years as a saxophone instructor and jazz band director. Alice is comfortable teaching a wide range of instruments and really enjoys helping students build a solid musical foundation.
