Get to know Amanda Thompson

Ms. Thompson is a second-generation music teacher with more than 30 years experience teaching private and group piano, voice, and music theory lessons. Her students range in age from 4 years to 75 years. In addition to teaching, she has performed in orchestras, choruses and as an accompanist or choral/ensemble director.

Having studied Music Education at Samford University and Music and Middle Grades Education at Kennesaw State University, she has acquired expertise in teaching at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels.

Ms. Thompson’s experience as a Music and Special Education paraprofessional has provided her with the ability and knowledge to work well with gifted students as well as those who progress at a slower pace. As a member of Cobb Conty Music Teachers Association and Georgia Music Teaches Association, her students have often participated in festivals and competitions receiving very high scores.

Although she has a classical approach to ensure students learn to read music well, she encourages students to learn all types of music, including things they enjoy and desire to learn to play. Ms.Thompson enjoys using her knowledge and expertise to assist students in reaching their full potential.
