Hi, I’m Amy Fetherolf, a professional violinist and dedicated teacher with a lifelong passion for music education. I’m a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM), where I had the privilege of studying with some of the finest violinists and educators in the country. Over the years, I’ve had the honor of performing as a featured soloist with ensembles such as the Cleveland Orchestra, the North Carolina Symphony, Apollo’s Fire, & the Raleigh Symphony Orchestra.
While performing is a joy, teaching has always been one of the most meaningful parts of my musical journey. I specialize in private violin lessons for students of all ages and levels, from young beginners to advanced players. I utilize the Suzuki Method as the foundation of my teaching approach, which emphasizes learning music in a nurturing and supportive environment—much like the way we learn language. This method helps students build solid technique, musical expression, and confidence in a natural, encouraging way.
I also incorporate traditional methods and tailor each lesson to fit the individual needs of the student. Whether your child is just starting out or you’re an adult picking up the violin for the first time (or returning to it after years away), I strive to make lessons engaging, structured, and enjoyable. Adult learners appreciate my supportive, patient approach and often find lessons to be both inspiring and empowering, helping them build confidence as they pursue a lifelong dream or personal goal.
Earlier in my career, I served as a teaching assistant to Linda Cerone and Stephen Rose at the Encore School for Strings, a prestigious summer program that trains some of the nation’s most promising young string players. Those experiences deeply shaped my approach to teaching—balancing high standards with kindness, encouragement, and creativity.
I believe that music should be a joyful and enriching part of life, and I love helping students discover what they’re capable of—both musically and personally. Whether you’re exploring lessons for your child or looking to learn yourself, I’d love to be a part of your musical journey.
