About Andrey Sabayev
Get to know Andrey Sabayev
Mr. Sabayev received his education at Azerbaijan State Conservatory, Baku, Azerbaijan in 1996.
He continued his professional studies at R. Strauss Conservatory in Munich, Germany, with
Professor Eric Terwilliger (2001-2003).
Mr. Sabayev has been Principal French horn player with the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic
Orchestra since 2006. During Mr. Sabayev’s tenure with Azerbaijan State Symphony Orchestra, he
performed under the button of Mstislav Rostropovich, Zubin Mehta, Ennio Morricone, Kristian
Badea and Gurer Aykal. He also performed with many soloists such as Maxim Vengerov, Denis
Matsuyev, Placido Domingo, Anna Netrebko, Montserrat Caballe, Boris Berezovsky, Shlomo Mintz,
Nikolay Petrov, and others.
During his professional career Mr. Sabayev has performed as a Principal French horn with Amman
Symphony Orhestra and “Symfonietta” Orchestra of Baku. He was solo French horn player with
Regensburg Wind Symphony Orchestra, Regensburg, Germany.
As a guest French horn player he performed with Munich Symphony Orchestra, Munich Stats
Opera Orchestra, Fach Hoch Schule Orchester, “Corno sapiens” French Horn Ensemble Munich
and Baku State Opera Theatre.
Mr. Sabayev recorded solo performances with Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Orchestra as well as
with “Fach Hoch Schule Orchester” in Munich, Germany.
He taught in Amman National Conservatorium, Jordan. He has also been a faculty member of
Baku Academy of Music, M. Rostropovich School of Music and The International School of
Azerbaijan, Baku.
Mr. Sabaev is a winner of Wind players Competition of Republic of Azerbaijan. He is also recipient
of Presidential Honorary Award for “Outstanding Contribution to the Music and Art of Azerbaijan
Republic”
