      Teaching Experience: I have been teaching private percussion instruction for 26 years, including the last 21 years at Music & Arts. I teach beginners to advanced, covering reading skills, rudiments, and full drum set.
      Teaching Philosophy: My teaching philosophy: Finding the joy in melodic rhythm.

      Get to know Art McKinney

       I have a B.A. in Music Education/Percussion Major from Friends 
           University in Wichita, Kansas. During my college years, I studied
           timpani, under Fred Begun of the National Symphony, and jazz
           drumming, under Alan Dawson of the Berklee School of Music.
           I teach private percussion instruction for snare drum, timpani,
           and xylophone. I teach beginners to advanced, covering reading skills,
           rudiments, and full drum set. I specialize in advanced coordination
           techniques as applied to drum set for jazz and rock, utilizing the 
           instructional literature of Jim Chapin, Joel Rothman, John Lombardo,
           John Riley and many others.
