      Education: Avery Smith has received a Master's of Music in Cello Performance from Colorado State University and a Bachelor's of Music in Cello Performance from Baldwin Wallace University.
      Performance Experience: Avery Smith is a member of the Boulder Symphony and the Symphony of the Rockies, she also plays with the Wyoming Symphony. During her time at CSU, Avery was Principal Cello of the Colorado State Symphony Orchestra and the Colorado State Opera Orchestra. During her time at BW, Avery was a member of the Baldwin Wallace Symphony Orchestra and was Principal Cello her junior and senior years. Avery also plays at weddings, business events, children's concerts around the northern Colorado area.
      Teaching Experience: Avery Smith was the Graduate Teaching Assistant at CSU where she providing supplementary lessons to Undergraduate students. Avery led weekly group rehearsals for her cello sections at CSU and BW, she also led group rehearsals for the Colorado All-State Orchestra cello sections three years in a row. Avery had small studios during her undergraduate studies and in high school. Avery has also worked with young students and beginners, teaching a basic cello set up and beginning musicality skills.
      Teaching Philosophy: I believe in creating a positive and nurturing environment that is always centered around the student. A teacher should be expected to adjust how they teach based on the way a student learns, not the other way around. I work with each student to learn their goals for lessons and give them the tools to reach those goals. I aim to give students skills they can apply in their lives in and outside of music. I believe in gently pushing students, all while maintaining an encouraging atmosphere.

      Get to know Avery Smith

      Avery Smith is a professional cellist located in Northern Colorado. She received a Master's of Music in Cello Performance from Colorado State University and a Bachelor's of Music in Cello Performance from Baldwin Wallace University. She is a member of the Boulder Symphony and Music Academy and the Symphony of the Rockies, she also plays with the Wyoming Symphony. She continues to audition for local orchestras and hopes to expand her performing career in the coming years. Avery not only has a passion for performing but for teaching as well. She believes it is vital to nurture a love for cello and classical music in the next generation of musicians. Avery believes in cultivating a positive and nurturing environment centered around the students' needs. She aims to build a studio of passionate cellists and wishes to positively impact as many students as she can.
