Education: DMA from the University of North Texas, MM from the University of Colorado at Boulder, BM from Oberlin Conservatory.
Performance Experience: I am a classical musician and have performed across the country as a soloist, chamber musician, and in orchestras. In Texas I have played with the Abilene Philharmonic, Las Colinas, Garland, and Arlington Symphonies. Previously I have performed with the Arkansas Symphony, Boulder Philharmonic, Crested Butte Music Festival, and the Lake City Chamber Music Festival.
Teaching Experience: I am a K-12 certified music teacher and have taught elementary music and band in the public schools. I was previously on the music faculty at Western Colorado University where I taught music theory, aural skills, music education, and flute. I have been teaching private piano and flute lessons for over 20 years.
Teaching Philosophy: I welcome students of all ages and abilities and my goal is to make lessons a positive experience for everyone!
Get to know Becky Weidman-Winter
Becky is a classically trained musician who started playing the piano at age 7 and flute at age 9. She has over 20 years experience teaching including private and group lessons, in public schools, and at the university level. As a pianist she has participated in the yearly National Piano Guild auditions and accompanied high school choirs and solo instrumentalists in recitals and competitions. As a flutist she won the Flute Society of Kentucky and Mid-South Young Artist Competitions and competed in the Jean-Pierre Rampal International Flute Competition. She also enjoys collaborating as a chamber musician and performs regularly as part of a flute duo.
