About Bella Schwerin
Get to know Bella Schwerin
My name is Arabella, I am originally from Iowa, I moved to Kansas for undergrad studies, Florida for graduate studies. I have recently moved to the Phoenix area as a professional cellist, strings teacher, and immersive design artist. I have been performing in symphonies, chamber concerts, new music ensembles, and solo recitals as a professional cellist for 5 years. I am an advocate and lover of new music and creating new ways to experience a recital or concert. I have been teaching students at various levels for 6 years. My goal as a private instructor is to encourage the discovery of each student’s unique success and help to develop the necessary fundamentals to reach their goals. In a first lesson, I prioritize physical awareness and understanding on the instrument, and the ability to produce a good sound. Technical ability is important; however, I believe it is crucial to help the student discover a healthy love for music and the instrument above all. I value imagination, creativity, and passion for the instrument, and I encourage my students to adopt these values as they work towards individual success. Success varies for everyone and I love finding new and different ways to connect cello and music to other skills or passions mentally and physically. Joy for music cannot be taught, but I am a strong believer that it can be facilitated. When I am away from music, I like to hike, create art, and I am passionate about rock climbing!
