Education: Berklee College of Music 2008-2013 majoring in Professional Music with an Emphasis on music education.
Performance Experience: I started preforming with my high school's; symphonic, jazz, and marching bands. While at Berklee I performed with project bands, composed of fellow alumni as unique showcases, including a regular show at the prestigious Orpheum in Boston. After Berklee I started touring up and down the east coast with a folk band. Additionally, I have performed internationally including Ireland and England at various folk festivals.
Teaching Experience: 10 years in total of private instruction, both in person and online
Teaching Philosophy: As a passionate music teacher, I understand the joy that learning an instrument can bring. I believe in a practical theory based approach to the piano that extends through music as a whole. Benefits of this approach to instruction include increased creativity, problem solving skills, better hand eye coordination and memory. Playing music will increase self esteem and relieve stress throughout life. Opening someone's eyes to the limitless possibilities that music can bring is why I love teaching
Get to know Ben O'Hare
My music career started in 6th grade with the school's symphonic, marching and jazz bands. I started piano in 2004 and eventually auditioned and was accepted into Berklee College of Music. This gave me a unique opportunity to grow as a musician. I graduated from Berklee with a degree in professional music with an emphasis on music education, as I developed a passion for it along the way. While regularly teaching in Boston I was also performing with various different groups and venues.
