Education: Master of Music in Violin Performance and Master in Music String Pedagogy from Ohio University. Master of Music in Viola Performance from UCONN. Graduate Performance Diploma in Viola Performance from the University of Hartford. Currently working on obtaining a Doctorate of Music in Viola Performance at the University of Hartford. Completed long term Suzuki teacher training in Violin Books 1-6. Currently completing Long term Suzuki teacher training in Violin books 7-8.
Performance Experience: Bobby has performed as a member of many orchestras as a student and professionally. Bobby is currently part of The Hartt School's contemporary music ensemble "Foot in the Door". Bobby is also an avid chamber musician. In addition to all his professional performances, Bobby has also put on a number of solo recitals as part of his many acquired diplomas and degrees.
Teaching Experience: Over 10 years of teaching including private lessons, group classes, and chamber music.
Teaching Philosophy: I believe in teaching the student holistically. I understand that not every student is planning to become a professional musician. The goal for me is to help the student develop and refine their interest in making music while promoting confidence, perseverance, and responsibility. I believe that every student young or old can learn to play and enjoy their instrument.
Get to know Bobby Luan
Bobby is an enthusiastic and dedicated viola and violin teacher. He has been teaching his own students for over 10 years. Bobby has taught students of all ages and likes to motivate his students through fun, positive, and encouraging activities during lessons.
Bobby enjoys learning and is always trying to become a better musician and teacher. He has gone through long term Suzuki teacher training in Violin books 1-6 and is currently completing his training in Suzuki Books 7-8. He is also currently in the process of completing his Doctorate of Musical Arts degree at The Hartt School of the University of Hartford.
In his spare time Bobby enjoys a host of activities including reading, hiking, playing video games, and cooking.
