Teaching Philosophy: One of the biggest skills I learned over the years is how to find each individual's best learning pathway to make them successful. Learning an instrument should be fun and rewarding experience. I try to keep the lesson fun when learning “boring stuff” like scales and chord arpeggios. Along the way the I slowly introduce music theory so they understand the how and why a song sounds the way it does. This approach makes learning new songs exponentially easier and easier as the student progresses.

Hello, My name is Brandon Wicks and I truly love teaching people and sharing my passion for music with them. Here's little info about myself. I've been playing music for 39+ years starting with cello at age 10. I then switched to tenor saxophone at 12 and really fell in love with music. I ended up attending university as a Jazz Studies/Performance major. This opened my mind up to music theory, composition, and lots of live performing in cafés, parties, outdoor venues, small clubs/bars, concert halls, and stadiums. I took a long hiatus from playing saxophone but recently I have jumped back into playing. Now I have a more focused drive and wiser approach to my learning process.

I started playing bass guitar back in 2008. I always loved playing funk music, jazz, Latin music, and various forms of rock and metal. This drew me into wanting to learn bass guitar. I play primarily 6 string fretted and fretless bass guitar and also some upright bass. Bass is such a wonderful instrument. I love how it fits into every genre of music as a supportive and even featured role. My playing is heavily influenced by classic 70’s funk, classic and modern jazz, neo soul, r&b, and plenty of 70’s/80s pop, metal, and alternative music. I played bass in the local Seattle scene at mostly small to medium size venues. Comet Tavern, The Highdive, Blue Moon Tavern, Beacon Hill, Skylark Cafe & Pub, Jefferson Park grand opening festival, MoveOn Rally at Cal Anderson Park.

One of the biggest skills I learned over the years is how to find each individual's best learning pathway to make them successful.
