Get to know Brendan McGovern
Brendan McGovern is a multi instrumentalist composer from Seattle, WA. He plays saxophone, clarinet, flute, and piano professionally. He attended Roosevelt High School and played in their Jazz Band, performing in various festivals in NY, around the country, and in Europe. Having earned a BM in Music from University of Washington in 2017, Brendan has lived in NYC over the past year, pursuing a Masters in Jazz Saxophone at Queens College. Brendan first started as a private music teacher on piano and woodwinds for 6 years in Seattle. He then taught as a Middle school band director for 2 years and in Elementary General Music for Seattle and Highline Public Schools. He has performed in local bands such as Banda Vagos, Copastetic, the Highsteppers, and Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra. At Music & Arts, Brendan brings his experience as a woodwinds expert, pianist, and Band Teacher and is excited to work with students on their ensemble and solo music!
