About Brian Petras

Brian Petras has been teaching piano for over 25 years.  He teaches students of all ages, abilities and styles. He has been teaching at Music and Arts 

for almost 12 years. He also teaches privately at Lake Highland Prep in Orlando and has taught at Trinity Christian Academy as well as Lake Mary Prep.

He has a B.A. degree in Music Performance with an emphasis in Jazz from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

He teaches classical piano methods, music theory, and also jazz improvisation. He uses various method books which include Alfred's Basic Piano Library.

Bastien Piano Basics, and Faber and Faber with the younger students he teaches.  He teaches reading  traditional sheet music as well as reading from a lead sheet with chord symbols.

He also maintains a busy performance schedule by playing solo and with various bands at local venues around the Central Florida area. 

He has also worked as an accompanist at various schools around the area.
