Get to know Calvin Marcus
Calvin Marcus comes to Music & Arts with 28 years of teaching experience in the school band world. Currently teaching Concert Band and Music Theory in Washington, DC; he has also taught, adjudicated, and conducted in Broward County, Florida and Charlotte, North Carolina. He holds a Bachelor's of Music Education BME in Teaching with an Instrumental Emphasis from Mars Hill University in NC, and a Master's Degree in Music Education MME in Music Curriculum Design from Boston University in MA.
Calvin is accomplished on a variety of brass instruments given that he majored on trombone and also played trumpet in his college brass quintet. He has over two decades of successfully starting students on their instruments and numerous superior band ratings under his belt. He is committed to nurturing students’ musical abilities, creativity, and confidence. He approaches each lesson with excellence and enthusiasm; and can't wait to get you started!
