Get to know Cameron Harper
Cameron Harper is an active clarinetist in the Charleston area who hopes to expand appreciation for classical music as a performer and teaching artist.
Cameron has performed across the east coast in venues including Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, and the Benedum Center for the Performing Arts, performing recently with The Beach Boys, Carnegie Mellon Philharmonic, and Azure Pittsburgh, where he helped design and perform sensory-friendly concerts for people with autism and their families. Cameron studied clarinet repair with renowned clarinet technician Mark Jacobi, where he cultivated a strong appreciation for proper instrument care and maintenance that he hopes to share with his private students. In addition to maintaining a private teaching studio in Charleston, Cameron recently completed the Musical Entrepreneurship & Leadership Development program with New Groove Music Studio and has performed and given masterclasses in schools across Pittsburgh and Charleston.
Cameron completed a Master of Music in Clarinet Performance degree at Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor of Music Performance from Temple University, and studied clarinet with Michael Rusinek, Sam Caviezel, and Wayne Titerence. He studied bass clarinet with Paul Demers, and attended the Philadelphia International Music Festival, where he studied with Boris Allakhverdyan and Ricardo Morales.
Beyond performing and teaching, Cameron enjoys nature photography, astronomy, paleontology, and spending time with his fiancée and their two cats.
