Get to know Canangela Boyd-Robertson
Canangela Boyd-Robertson is a professionally, trained vocal coach and keyboard instructor who exhibited a gift for teaching at a young age. By age thirteen, she was encouraged and trained by her music instructors to teach and was soon managing a small in-home piano studio.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Spelman College where she studied both voice and piano. Prior to her senior year, Canangela received a scholarship to attend the Brevard Music Center to study voice and piano. After graduation, she was chosen as a member of the Institute for the Recruitment of Teachers for excellence in education. This honor opened the door to a full, teaching assistantship at the University of Rhode Island where she received her Master's degree in Piano with an emphasis in Music Education.
Canangela has worked in many capacities as a music educator which includes serving as a high school/middle school choir director, Pre-K General music teacher, and a conservatory director. Her skills led her to a career in the music industry training aspiring and professional artists as a vocal/piano coach. Students as young as age 3 to senior adults have benefited from her practical approach to music instruction which embraces both classical and contemporary styles. Her love for teaching continues to inspire many others to pursue careers in music, education and related fields.
