About Carla Ruffin

Carla Ruffin, Music Educator, piano teacher, performer, chorister, musician. Originally from a musical family in St. Louis, Missouri, she began taking piano lessons at age eight.   She has a degree in Music Education from Hampton University, Hampton, Virginia. A United States Army Veteran, she completed training at the Armed Forces School of Music at the Naval Amphibious Base in Norfolk, Virginia.  She has performed for soldiers and dignitaries as a member of military bands stateside and overseas. Her experience spans thirty years of teaching piano and chorus in public schools, with Child and Youth Services at several military installations and ages 6 to adult in her private studio. She has directed and accompanied choirs in academic and religious settings, and has unique insight in working with diverse populations and military families.  Carla Ruffin also has graduate degrees in Administration from Central Michigan University and Counseling from Loyola University in Maryland.
